The Blue Mountains Sustainable Precinct project involves greening three large-scale, high-profile sites within the World Heritage Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. These sites include the Echo Point Visitors Centre, the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre and adjacent Civic Centre.

The Blue Mountains Cultural Centre and adjacent Civic Centre will feature a World Heritage interpretation centre highlighting the potential impacts of climate change on the surrounding World Heritage area. Key initiatives at these sites include:
*energy efficient design features such as double brick air cavity walls, double glazing and fully insulated roofing;
*a building management control system, including an energy efficient air conditioning system;
*energy efficient, gas-fired hot water heaters and solar hot water systems;
*rainwater tanks;
*stormwater harvesting and treatment of runoff in rooftop and rain gardens.
